The prime objective of the association shall be the promotion and encouragement of long distance running/walking and the education of the public to its benefits. WVRR holds championships, races on the road and track, lectures, fun runs, and other educational activities, demonstrations, clinics and social events; this association may print and publish books, magazines and newsletters; this association may make awards; this association may do all such other things as may be conducive to the encouragement of long distance running/walking. WVRR also engages in community activities, to publicize by appropriate means the benefits of long distance running/walking, and to coordinate with other agencies advocating running/walking as a means of physical fitness.
