Preventing birth defects

Its original mission accomplished, the foundation turned its focus to preventing birth defects and infant mortality. The March of Dimes has led the way to discover the genetic causes of birth defects, to promote newborn screening, and to educate medical professionals and the public about best practices for healthy pregnancy. We have supported research for surfactant therapy to treat respiratory distress and helped initiate the system of regional neonatal intensive care for premature and sick babies. Our recent Folic Acid Campaign achieved a dramatic reduction in the incidence of neural tube defects, birth defects of the brain and spine.

Fighting premature birth

Since 2003, our fight to save babies has been strongly characterized by our Prematurity Campaign. The rising incidence of premature birth has demanded action, and the March of Dimes has responded by initiating an intensive, multi-year campaign to raise awareness and find the causes of prematurity.

S.C.O.R. Bicycling Club “Specialized Coronary Outpatient Rehabilitation” encourages bicycling as form of rehabilitative therapy after heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, angioplasty and other forms of heart disease.  SCOR members promote safe cycling and emphasize the heath benefits of cycling and related activities. The money they have raised has gone to fund the American Heart Association and a variety of other heart related projects, Camp Bon Couer, Make a Wish Foundation, four TEAM SCOR’s in the Race Across America relay division and the AXA World Team Ride.

First opened in 1861, the Mt. Washington Auto Road is America’s oldest man-made attraction. Open from May to October, each season thousands enjoy the drive to summit of the Northeast’s highest peak.

The Mt Washington Auto Road is a family owned business committed to providing safe access to the summit of Mt Washington. This inflatable arch is used at their Mt Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb and 24 Hours of Great Glen Event.

This Inflatable Arch will be used as the event entrance.
